Stoney Street is defined by the heavy, soaring brick arches of the railway viaduct that rumble overhead. This narrow thoroughfare runs directly through the historic heart of Borough Market, where the shadows of Victorian-era engineering meet a dense, centuries-old network of trade. The northern end of the street was laid out during the seventeenth century across the former gardens of Winchester Palace, the residence of the Bishops of Winchester.
