The Royal Mile Gallery occupies a building at two hundred seventy-two Canongate, part of the historic thoroughfare that stretches from Edinburgh Castle down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. For over forty years, this space has been dedicated to a specialized collection of antique maps, vintage books, and historical prints. The street itself, once a separate burgh that stood outside the city gates of Edinburgh, takes its name from the Augustinian canons who historically traveled this route to their abbey.
