Scottish Parliament Building

landmark

The Scottish Parliament Building is defined by its low-lying, organic arrangement of interconnected structures, featuring a roofline that resembles upturned boats and concrete, branch-like shapes that appear to sprout from the hillside. Located at the foot of the Royal Mile, this complex occupies a site once used for a brewery. It was designed by the Spanish-Catalan architect Enric Miralles, who aimed to create a legislative space that seemed to grow naturally out of the Scottish landscape.
