The King's Theatre stands on Leven Street, identifiable by its red sandstone facade and the grand balcony arching over the main entrance. Opened in nineteen oh six, this Category A listed venue was built to compete with the city’s existing theaters, aiming to bring a new scale of opulence to Edinburgh’s performance scene. Architect John D. Swanston designed the interior in a lavish Viennese Baroque style, featuring cream and gold tones with voluptuous figures supporting the tiers of boxes.
