Dean Cemetery

Dean Cemetery is defined by its massive stone walls, which incorporate carved masonry salvaged from the seventeenth-century Dean House that once occupied this land. Opened in eighteen forty-six, the cemetery was designed by the architect David Cousin as a secure and fashionable final resting place. Its layout, which includes formal paths and mature trees, reflects the Victorian era's approach to creating burial grounds as dignified parklands.
