Gloucester Lane is defined by its low-profile, single-story mews buildings, which are constructed from coursed rubble with droved and polished ashlar dressings. These structures, dating to the early nineteenth century, are stepped down along the street in a series of three-bay arrangements. While the grander townhouses of the surrounding Moray Feu estate were built for the city’s elite, this lane provided the necessary support services for those households, serving as the residential and working quarters for staff and their horses.
