Assembly Hall

other

The Assembly Hall sits atop the Mound, defined by its position between Castlehill and Mound Place, where it overlooks the city from the heart of the Old Town. Designed by David Bryce and completed in eighteen fifty-nine, this building serves as the annual meeting place for the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The structure was originally part of a complex that included New College, built for the Free Church of Scotland following the Disruption of eighteen forty-three.
