The University of Glasgow is defined by its soaring Gothic Revival architecture and a heavy stone silhouette that anchors the city’s West End. Founded in fourteen fifty-one by a papal bull from Pope Nicholas the Fifth, it ranks as the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world. While it began its life within the walls of Glasgow Cathedral, it moved to this location on Gilmorehill in eighteen seventy.
