The Garage is instantly recognizable by the yellow American-style truck that appears to crash directly through its Sauchiehall Street façade. Opened in nineteen ninety-four by Donald MacLeod, this venue holds the title of Scotland’s largest nightclub. Its sprawling interior covers four levels and six different rooms, housed within a building that has functioned as an entertainment space for decades. Before it became a magnet for students and live music fans, the main hall operated under various names including The Mayfair and the historic Locarno ballroom, where generations of locals once gathered for formal dances.
