The Pavilion Theatre stands out for its glazed, buff-colored terracotta facade, a French Renaissance exterior that has marked the corner of Renfield and Renfrew streets since nineteen oh four. Opened on February twenty-ninth of that year, it was designed by architect Bertie Crewe to be a luxurious jewel in Thomas Barrasford’s chain of music halls. The interior was finished in a style its original owners called pure Louis fifteen, featuring rich mahogany woodwork and extensive Rococo plasterwork that still frames the proscenium arch and boxes today.
