Bridge of Sighs

The Bridge of Sighs is a stone-arched bridge that serves as the entrance to the Glasgow Necropolis. Built in eighteen thirty-three by architect James Hamilton, the structure features ornate gates added by James and his father, David Hamilton, five years later. It originally spanned the Molendinar Burn, a stream that flowed through the ravine separating Cathedral Square from the cemetery hill.
