Clyde Navigation Trust

The most striking feature of the former Clyde Navigation Trust building is its prominent corner dome, which rises above the intersection of Robertson Street and the Broomielaw. Designed by Sir John James Burnet, this Italianate Baroque structure was intended to be a grand four-part composition, but only two phases were ever completed. This leaves the building with an intentionally unbalanced appearance, as the original plans for a much larger headquarters were abandoned.
