Tahquitz Canyon is marked by a sheer, sixty-foot seasonal waterfall that cascades down a steep granite cliff face. Located on the ancestral lands of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, this canyon has been inhabited for at least five thousand years. The Cahuilla people developed sophisticated irrigation systems here, building rock-lined ditches and reservoirs to sustain their village sites with water from the San Jacinto Mountains.
