The Palm Springs Tennis Club is marked by its position at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains and a swimming pool famously landscaped with V-shaped palm trees. Founded in nineteen thirty-seven by Pearl McCallum McManus, the daughter of a city pioneer, the club was developed to provide a private retreat for visitors. The original clubhouse, which opened in nineteen thirty-eight, was designed by architect Paul Williams.
