Palm Springs Art Museum

The Palm Springs Art Museum is defined by the massive, brutalist concrete forms of its main building, which rises against the steep backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains. Completed in nineteen seventy-six, the structure was designed by architect E. Stewart Williams to harmonize with the harsh desert environment. Its bold geometric angles and solid massing reflect the principles of desert modernism, a style that Williams helped pioneer in the Coachella Valley.
