The Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center is a glass and steel pavilion recognizable by its floating appearance, elevated above street level to frame views of the San Jacinto Mountains. Architect E. Stewart Williams designed this building in nineteen sixty-one to serve as the Santa Fe Federal Savings and Loan. The structure features floor-to-ceiling windows and perforated, sliding anodized aluminum panels on its facade, which Williams created to manage the intense desert sun.
