Candlestick Park

Candlestick Park once dominated this waterfront stretch of San Francisco Bay, known for its fierce, swirling winds and fog that made it the coldest venue in professional sports. Opened on April twelfth, nineteen sixty, the stadium was built on the rocky shore of Candlestick Point to lure the New York Giants to the West Coast. Its design, put together like a giant pre-fabricated puzzle, became a local landmark that eventually hosted both the Giants and the San Francisco Forty-Niners, witnessing four Super Bowl championships and the Beatles’ final public concert.
