Golden Gate Bridge

landmark

The Golden Gate Bridge is identified by its two seven-hundred-forty-six-foot towers and the signature International Orange color, a shade chosen by architectural designer Irving Morrow to stand out against the sea and the region’s constant fog. This suspension bridge spans the one-mile-wide strait connecting the Pacific Ocean to San Francisco Bay, linking the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County. When it opened in May nineteen thirty-seven, it held the record as both the tallest and the longest suspension bridge in the world.
