Fort Point Light (San Francisco)

The Fort Point Light is a white, twenty-seven-foot cast-iron tower perched directly atop the third tier of the brick Fort Point fortification. It sits at the very edge of the Golden Gate strait, now positioned beneath the massive steel south anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge. This structure is the third lighthouse to occupy this exact point, with its predecessors having been dismantled or destroyed to make way for the massive military construction of the fort and its seawalls.
