Battery Dynamite

Battery Dynamite is identified by three large, circular concrete pads and a nearby powerhouse, all largely obscured by mature trees and vegetation on the coastal bluffs of the Presidio. It was built as an experimental coastal defense battery during the late nineteenth century, consisting of three fifteen-inch guns that launched shells using compressed air rather than traditional gunpowder.
