Battery Boutelle is a coastal artillery fortification built into the rugged bluffs of the Presidio. You can identify it by its exposed concrete structures and magazines that sit along the coastal trail. Completed in nineteen hundred, it was one of several Endicott-era batteries designed to defend the San Francisco Bay against fast-moving torpedo boats and mine sweepers.
