The Andaz West Hollywood sits at eight-four-oh-one Sunset Boulevard as a fourteen-story building with glass-enclosed sunrooms that overlook the street. Opened in nineteen sixty-three as Gene Autry’s Hotel Continental, it earned its reputation during the late nineteen sixties and seventies when touring rock bands made it their home base. Because of its proximity to music venues like the Whisky a Go Go, the hotel became a site for legendary excess, leading residents and staff to nickname it the Riot House.
