The Sunset Marquis is defined by three and a half acres of lush, private gardens tucked into a cul-de-sac just off the Sunset Strip. When developer George Rosenthal opened the hotel in nineteen sixty-three, he named it after his newborn son, Markey. His goal was to recreate the atmosphere of the Garden of Allah, a former Hollywood residential hotel that had once served as a gathering place for writers and silent film stars.
