Blair House

Blair House is a yellow masonry building on Pennsylvania Avenue that serves as the official guest house for the President of the United States. While it appears as a singular home, the structure is actually a complex of four interconnected nineteenth-century townhouses. The original residence was built in eighteen twenty-four for Joseph Lovell, the first Surgeon General of the United States Army, before being purchased in eighteen thirty-six by newspaper publisher Francis Preston Blair.
