The George Mason Memorial is set within a circular garden landscape, defined by a curved, seventy-two-foot-long stone trellis that arches over a bronze statue of the Founding Father. This site, located in West Potomac Park near the Tidal Basin, was dedicated in two thousand two. It transformed an area originally known as the Pansy Garden, which dates back to the nineteen twenties as part of the McMillan Plan for the nation's capital.
