The Enid A. Haupt Garden is a four-acre landscape that sits directly behind the Smithsonian Castle. Its most striking feature is a central, symmetrical parterre, where low boxwood hedges and colorful seasonal flowers are arranged in intricate, geometric patterns. While the garden appears to be a traditional ground-level park, it is actually a massive green roof. Beneath your feet lie the underground offices and galleries of the National Museum of African Art, the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, and the S. Dillon Ripley Center.
