The Miami Circle consists of a thirty-eight-foot ring of basins and postholes carved directly into the limestone bedrock at the mouth of the Miami River. It was uncovered in nineteen ninety-eight during a salvage excavation before a planned condominium project, revealing an ancient foundation created by the ancestors of the Tequesta people. Archaeologists found hundreds of holes arranged in a precise pattern, which they believe once supported a large, circular wooden structure.
