Gesu Church is the oldest Catholic parish in the city of Miami, occupying the same site where it was founded in eighteen ninety-six, months before the city was incorporated. The building features a Venetian-style facade and an arcaded entrance portico that projects over the sidewalk. Henry Flagler, a Presbyterian industrialist who helped bring the railroad to the region, donated the land for this original mission.
