Olympia Theater

The Olympia Theater is defined by its Mediterranean Revival facade along East Flagler Street and its rare atmospheric interior. When it opened on February eighteen, nineteen twenty-six, the theater stunned early Miamians with a design by architect John Eberson that mimicked an open-air Spanish garden. Inside, the ceiling creates the illusion of a night sky, complete with twinkling stars and drifting clouds. It was among the first buildings in the South to feature air conditioning, a feature that made it a premier escape from the city heat.
