Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park

Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park is defined by a three-foot-high painted brick wall that zig-zags along its boundary. This site, located in the Kaka'ako district, occupies land that once served as city and county stables before being converted into a modern playground during the nineteen thirties. The park takes its name from Margaret Waldron, a teacher at the adjacent Pohukaina Elementary School who worked in the neighborhood for over two decades. Known to locals simply as Mother Waldron, she earned a reputation for organizing after-school activities and providing resources to children in the area.
