The Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii is a wooden, A-frame Shinto shrine marked by a distinct torii gate at its entrance. Originally founded in nineteen oh six by Reverend Katsuyoshi Miyao, the shrine is a branch of the Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine in Japan. Its design follows the traditional taisha-zukuri architectural style, created by architect Hego Fuchino and assembled by master carpenter Ichisaburo Takata, who joined the building together like a puzzle without the use of nails.
