Four marble bas-reliefs are carved into the front facade of the eight-story brick building at fourteen Beacon Street. Known as the Congregational House, this structure was designed by the architectural firm Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge and completed in eighteen ninety-eight. The carvings depict figures and events central to the Congregational tradition, including the Pilgrims signing the Mayflower Compact and the founding of Harvard College in sixteen thirty-six.
