Modern Pastry Shop occupies a storefront on Hanover Street in the North End, marked by the frequent sight of a line forming out the door and onto the sidewalk. Established in nineteen thirty, the bakery was named for the then-modern refrigeration methods that allowed it to operate differently than the traditional home-style bakeries of the early immigrant era.
