The St. Agrippina Society is defined each summer by a two-thousand-pound, life-size statue of the saint mounted on an ornate canopy. This society was founded in nineteen fourteen by immigrants from the town of Mineo, Sicily, to maintain a connection to their patron saint. Saint Agrippina was a Roman princess martyred in two hundred fifty-six AD, and the society keeps her memory through an annual August feast held on Hanover Street.
