Rowes Wharf

Rowes Wharf is defined by its massive, copper-domed central archway, which spans the public plaza and frames a clear view between the city and the harbor. Completed in nineteen eighty-seven, this sixteen-story structure serves as a physical gateway, bridging the transition from the bustle of Atlantic Avenue to the open water. Architect Adrian Smith designed the building with a frame of steel, brick, and granite, creating a modern silhouette that intentionally recalls the sense of arrival experienced by sailors and commuters at this site for over two centuries.
