Originally constructed as a private residence in nineteen twenty-seven, it transitioned into a wedding venue by nineteen thirty-nine under the ownership of Ollie McKee. At that time, it was known as the Gretna Green Wedding Chapel, named after a destination in Scotland famous for its own history of quick marriages.
