TASWIRA Gallery sits in Seattle's Pioneer Square as a non-profit space dedicated to showcasing contemporary art from the African diaspora. The name itself comes from the Swahili word for "big picture," a title chosen by founder Avery Barnes to reflect the gallery's goal of fostering cultural immersion and connection. Inside, the walls display a rotating selection of paintings, sculptures, and other works by artists whose narratives are often missing from mainstream gallery rotations.
