L'envol - Statue de Jacques Brel

On the Place de la Vieille Halle aux Blés stands a bronze sculpture of the singer Jacques Brel, known as L'Envol, or The Flight. The figure depicts Brel in a signature stage pose, captured in mid-song with his arms spread wide as if embracing an audience. Sculpted by the Belgian artist Tom Frantzen, the work was unveiled on October eleven, two thousand seventeen, following a push by local merchants to honor the artist in his home city.
