Musical Instruments Museum

The Musical Instruments Museum is recognizable by the bold Art Nouveau facade of its primary home, a six-story structure of girded steel and glass painted in a dark, metallic tone. An octagonal tower with ornamental metalwork crowns the building, which features large glass walls originally intended to flood the interior with daylight for shoppers. Built in eighteen ninety-nine by architect Paul Saintenoy, the structure served as the Old England department store until nineteen seventy-two.
