Kerk van Onze Lieve Vrouwe Ter Kapelle

The Church of Our Lady of the Chapel sits at the end of the Hoogstraat in the Marolles district, defined by a distinct Baroque bell tower that replaced its original spire after a French bombardment in sixteen ninety-five. Founded in eleven thirty-four by Duke Godfrey the First of Brabant, the site began as a modest chapel established outside the city walls. It grew into the city's second parish church by twelve-ten, serving the local craftspeople who settled in this rising district.
