The Coudenberg Palace is defined by its invisibility. While it was once a grand residence for counts, dukes, and emperors, today it lies entirely buried beneath the neoclassical grid of the Place Royale. The only way to engage with the site is to descend underground, where archaeologists have uncovered the stone foundations, vaulted cellars, and former street levels of what was once one of the most significant royal complexes in Europe.
