House of European History

The House of European History occupies the Eastman Building, a structure distinguished by its symmetry and Art Deco style set within the green space of Leopold Park. Built between nineteen thirty-four and nineteen thirty-five, the facility was originally financed by George Eastman, the American inventor of the Kodak camera, to operate as a dental clinic for disadvantaged children. Inside, the walls were decorated with murals by Camille Barthélemy that depict scenes from the fables of Jean de La Fontaine, which remain on display following a major renovation.
