Poechenellekelder stands directly across from the Manneken Pis statue, identifiable by the large collection of bicycles hanging from its exterior facade. The tavern has operated at this address since nineteen ninety-one, filling a space that once served as a puppet theater. Its name, which translates roughly to puppet cellar, refers to the traditional marionettes and theatrical artifacts that pack the interior, where wooden puppets hang from the ceilings alongside antique musical instruments, old photographs, and various Manneken Pis figurines.
