La Fleur en Papier Doré is a modest, two-story house with a facade distinguished by its wrought iron window branches. Located at fifty-three to fifty-five rue des Alexiens, this seventeenth-century structure is one of the few buildings in the area to survive the bombardment of Brussels in sixteen ninety-five. While it once housed the Sisters of Charity in the mid-nineteenth century, it gained lasting notoriety after nineteen forty-four, when the eccentric poet and art dealer Geert van Bruaene transformed it into an artistic hub.
