Guido Gezellemuseum

The Guido Gezellemuseum is a sixteenth-century brick house identifiable by its quiet, residential appearance on Rolweg and the bronze sculpture by Jan Fabre, titled The Man Who Gives Fire, which stands near the entrance. This building is the birthplace and childhood home of the nineteenth-century poet and Roman Catholic priest, Guido Gezelle. Born here in eighteen thirty, Gezelle became a celebrated figure in Dutch-language literature by championing the use of the local West Flemish dialect.
