Bathurst Street serves as a primary north-south artery for Toronto, functioning as the western boundary for the historic Annex neighbourhood. Named after Henry Bathurst, the third Earl of Bathurst, the road was originally a mix of early commercial and rural trails. While he served as the British Secretary of War and the Colonies during the War of eighteen twelve, the Earl never visited Canada himself.
