The Mercuriales are two glass twin towers that dominate the skyline of Bagnolet, rising immediately alongside the Boulevard Périphérique. You can identify them by their sheer height and reflective, modernist facades, which stand in stark contrast to the surrounding urban landscape of eastern Paris. Completed in nineteen seventy-seven, the towers were named Levant and Ponant, or East and West. Architects Serge Lana and Alfred H. Milh designed these structures with an aesthetic directly inspired by the original World Trade Center towers in New York City.
