The Chemin des Vignes at one hundred thirteen bis Avenue de Verdun is defined by its deep, cool limestone galleries that honeycomb the ground beneath the street. Originally excavated three centuries ago to supply chalk for making lime, these subterranean tunnels provided the ideal dark, humid environment for wine storage.
