Porte du Point-du-Jour

historic

The Porte du Point-du-Jour exists as a historic site along the boundary between the sixteenth arrondissement of Paris and the neighboring commune of Boulogne-Billancourt. It takes its name from a local place-name, or lieudit, that once designated this riverside area near the Seine. In the nineteenth century, the location was defined by the fortifications built around Paris, serving as a gateway and an octroi station where taxes were collected on goods entering the city.
