The Saint-Sulpice Seminary in Issy-les-Moulineaux centers on a vast property characterized by its seventeenth-century circular pool that reflects the main seminary buildings and the Grand Chapel. Originally an elegant Renaissance manor, the estate was purchased in sixteen fifty-five by a Sulpician priest to serve as a quiet retreat for seminarians and clergy. It gained permanent status as the main center for the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice after the nineteen oh six law on the separation of churches and state forced the closure of their historic Parisian location.
